PHASE 4 PRESENTATION FEEDBACK REFLECTION

Friday, January 10th

The feedback we received on the presentation is very welcomed, as we were able to identify what questions the others might have, and we can think of the answers, if we don't have them yet, and we can make it more clear where we have and have not presented properly. For this, I created a section which explains Key Design Decisions.

  • "Why not 4 players?" - The answer to this question has been answered here.

  • "What are your roles?" - I have updated the GPP with this specification

  • "Double jump abilities" - yes, what we are aiming for in the end is parkour movements, so a double jump and other such actions will definitely be possible

  • "Could the character footstep act as a metronome?" yes, Rylan is looking into that (see here)

  • "Think of a way the game will record the music and save it" that is one of our goals, but we will implement it toward the end of the project, as it's not such a big priority

From the feedback received, it seems people like our game and are excited about what we are doing, which is great to see, because we know we are on the right way. There were a few indications and advice towards the art style, in that we should keep it simple and bouncy. Daryl is in charge of art, so that will be his responsibility. About the animations, that will be a nice challenge. We like the way Pikuniku has achieved that bounciness. The challenge will be in making Unity work with the art style, we can't have sprite by sprite animations in this game, so this will be interesting.

We also had a short team meeting with Adam today. He talked to Rylan about the Coda to Coda, and we hope we will get to talk to them soon. This is an amazing opportunity, to talk to someone who is in the industry and have their input and opinions in our game.

Adam also told us about the D&AD Competition. We looked at the brief and we decided it's worth trying to enter the competition. We already have the design and prototypes, so with a few refinements, we will be able to submit a good entrance. We want to do this and will read more about the competition soon, after the hand-in. The deadline is the 24th of March, so we have plenty of time.
