BRAINSTORMING I

Wednesday, November 8th

Today we decided to do a quick brainstorm that includes things we want to have in the game. This gives us a good start to come up with concepts and make sure no one's wishes in designing the game are ignored.

After we did this, we looked at what similarities we see on the paper, and we tried to organise similar topics in three columns, for developing three game ideas. First, we noticed one recurring theme was opposites, Contrast. Then, it was History and Fractured World. And for the last one, Immersive World.

We felt like we got a pretty good amount of starting points, so we decided we will go home, individually pick some of the topics from each column and research how other designers have used those elements in their games / products. This way, we can take inspiration from them and then design our own mechanics tomorrow.

BRAINSTORMING II

Friday, November 8th

For the second brainstorming session, we used PostIt notes, and we tried to each come up with as many simple mechanics as possible:

This was a useful exercise, and we managed to come up with a good amount of game ideas, closer than the previous attempts we had. even though some of them are quite silly, there are a few which have potential to be developed further.

This exercises reminded me of the one we did in the Design Sprints last year with the OneWeb Team: everyone coming up with ideas on their own, and then discussing them together. It's a very agile style of designing and can sometimes be stressful, but it does work, as we saw today.
